Meet our Assistant Principal

 

 

I am so thrilled to join the Johns Island Elementary family as your new Assistant Principal! I look forward to getting to know our students, staff, and families while becoming an active member of the Johns Island community.

This will be my eleventh year in education. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving students in Child Development through fifth grade as a classroom teacher, math interventionist, and most recently, as a math instructional coach. These experiences have strengthened my passion for supporting both student achievement and teacher growth while building meaningful relationships with those in the school community.

I earned both my bachelor's and first master's degrees in education from the University of South Carolina (go Gamecocks!) and am certified in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. In 2025, I earned my second masters degree from the Citadel’s Elementary Educational Leadership program, further preparing me to serve students, teachers, and families as a school leader. My educational journey has taken me across South Carolina (with a brief stop in Virginia), where I have had the opportunity to teach a variety of grade levels and learn from many incredible educators. For the past six years, I have proudly served at Harbor View Elementary School on James Island, where I taught Child Development and second grade before transitioning into a leadership role as a math instructional coach.

My wife, Laura, is an attorney in downtown Charleston. Together with our two pups, Sallie and Tillie, we love exploring Charleston, traveling, spending time outdoors, and trying new local restaurants. We feel incredibly fortunate to call the Lowcountry home.

As Assistant Principal, I am committed to fostering a school culture where every student feels safe, valued, challenged, and inspired to learn. I believe that strong relationships among students, families, and staff are the foundation of a thriving school community. My goal is to inspire creativity, curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning while supporting every child's academic, social, and emotional growth. I look forward to partnering with our families and staff as we continue the tradition of excellence at Johns Island Elementary.
